James Madison University and its Culture
So here it is folks. We have all heard the rumors about James Madison University but what is true and what is false?
For those of us who attend this fine institution it’s a known fact that the perception of JMU all depends on how you choose to live your college experience.
Yes JMU is a party school, ranked number 18 by the Princeton Review. You can attend celebrations through out the week and weekend, from two-keg Tuesday, wacky Wednesday to thirsty Thursday all the way through the weekend. But as a student you always have the choice. To go out or not to go out seems to always be the question. Yes it’s true more than often JMU students say “go out”. But never the less there is always still the choice to join in the weekend festivities or stay in and catch up on school work.
Yes JMU has a beautiful campus and a hard working student body. JMU offers over 105 degree programs that covers over 7 colleges and 78 academic programs. JMU has an average of 3.8 high school student admission. The most popular majors are Community Health Services/Liaison/Counseling, Marketing Management and General Psychology. JMU is 721 acres and has 17,900 undergraduate students. All over the campus students and faculty are known for being polite. At JMU it is a tradition that we hold open doors for one another and manners are a must. As students we take pride in our school and make an effort to keep it as vibrant as the students.
“I heard that JMU was mostly white before I decided to attend. Now that I am here it seems to be true. But the thing that people don’t know is that it really isn’t a bad thing. Every student here regardless of skin color is nice. They always try to include you. Yes I am black but its not always just about stereotypes.” said Andrew Harper Senior Head Student Equipment Manager for the JMU Football team. ”The people at JMU and the atmosphere that comes from the variety of people here will make me look back at my school one day and say that’s why I’m proud to be a Duke.”
